Here’s a very simple question: Who is the most influential person in your life?
I’ll explain this question a little. Who is that person that has the greatest influence in your life? Whose thoughts, words and actions have the greatest influence over your life? Is it God, or your parents, or maybe your spouse or children? Or is it your best friend or your boss? Perhaps it’s your pastor, imam, rabbi or other religious leader? Is it your coach or your mentor? Or is it the media?
If you picked any one of the options listed above, you’re wrong. The person with the greatest influence over your life is YOU.
Your own thoughts, words and actions determine the outcome of your life.
Yes, God has certain things He wants to do in you and for you, but only you have the power to agree with His desires. You also have the power to sabotage His plans for you. Your family and friends may have the best intentions for you, but ultimately, you retain the driver’s seat. It does not matter what anyone thinks, says or does, only YOU have the power to allow the thoughts, words and actions or someone else make any difference in your life.
So, have you been blaming someone else for the situation and circumstances in your life? Many people may desire what’s good for you, but you have to cooperate with them. And when negative situations come along, you have to cooperate with them, too. You make the ultimate decision of what you want to allow or disallow in your life.
It’s time to accept responsibility. This doesn’t mean that you should blame yourself. Blame is very different from responsibility. Blame is destructive. Responsibility is constructive. Accepting responsibility means that you understand that you have the power to create change. It restores your sense of personal power.
Today, be conscious of the fact that YOU determine what happens in your life.
It’s your ONLY life. Make it significant.
