Recently, I undertook the task of clearing out a wardrobe section in our bedroom. It was quite an eye-opener. I discovered so many things. There were some things that I thought were lost, things that I wanted to give out, things that were useful only for the garbage…so many things. Most importantly to me, I found things that I didn’t know I had and some things that I had forgotten that I had!
Have you ever tried to declutter and clear out any room in your home? I find that I’ve been doing a lot of that recently. And as important as it is to declutter our physical spaces, there is another kind of declutter that’s absolutely important. That’s right – from time to time, we need to intentionally declutter our minds.
Many of us are carrying around all kinds of things in our minds. We carry around ideas, memories, thoughts, beliefs and many other things. Some of these things are useful, and they just need to be reorganized. A lot of these things are actually harmful and we need to find a way to toss them out. And many other things are just plain junk occupying precious space in our minds. It’s time to do a ‘Mind Declutter’. It’s time to take pen, paper and yourself to a personal space and do a declutter.
Do you feel stressed? It’s time to clear your mind. Do you realise that stress is often a psychological challenge before it starts wreaking havoc on our physical bodies? When you clear your mind, you will feel lighter and more in control. I’m sure you’d like that.
Clearing out your mind will also help you to make peace with some things, resolve some things, throw away some things and, very importantly, it will help you to understand yourself and position yourself for your desired future.
I have a great tool that will help you to distill some of the important things in your mind on paper. It’s called The PAID Workbook (Personal Assessment Inventory and Discovery Workbook).
The Workbook has different sections that will help you to know and understand your personal skills, abilities, values, interests, desires and fears. It will also help you to understand how people perceive you. It’s a personal tool that’s easy to use and you can download it for free upon subscription to The Lifeaholic newsletter.
It’s time to intentionally declutter your mind in a powerful way. Do it!
