One: You are the light of the world, and you can make a positive difference in the world, no matter how small it seems (Matthew 5:14). You don’t need to be a grand stadium light reaching thousands of people to make a godly difference. Even a candle makes a big difference in a dark place. You don’t have to gather a crowd; the one person you reach matters to God. And your small actions add up in the scheme of eternity.
Two: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and don’t base your success on your ability to make the best decisions or pull things off without a hitch. Instead, base it on your ability to rise up and move on, with God’s help. As long as we’re always able to stand up, we should not be afraid to fall or make mistakes. The guarantee is not that we will not fall. The guarantee is that we will get back up when we fall. We can trust the promise of God: The Lord guides us in the way we should go and protects those who please him. If they fall, they will not stay down, because the Lord will help them up. (Psalm 37:23–24). There is no decision you cannot recover from. With God on your side, ALL things are possible.
Three: You can trust in the character of God, even when you don’t fully understand His moves. He is not a man that He should lie, and He does not change like shifting shadows (Numbers 23:19, James 1:17). This means that He is not deceptive. He has no need to lie, or impress or show off. If He didn’t want to do something, no one could force Him to do it. He is God. So, regardless of your experiences, hold on to what you know about His nature and character, especially as revealed in His Word.
