There’s a belief that many talented people have. You may be one of such people who believe that as long as you’re talented and well-intentioned, people will flock to you to benefit from what you have to offer. So, you sit at home in your comfy chair, expecting the phone to ring.
In a way, I shared that belief, too. But as I discovered, this is very rarely true, especially at the beginning of your journey. When you have something to offer to the world and add value to people, it doesn’t mean that everyone will suddenly arrive at your doorstep begging you to bless them with your idea or service. That never happens, even if you’re the best person for the job. You need to find or create the opportunities to do what you want to do.
The truth is that if your idea or vision is to add real value in some way (and it should be), it would be rare for you not to find any opportunities to practice it. You may have to look outside your immediate environment or even go online, but you will be able to find somewhere to showcase what you have to offer.
If you cannot readily find an opportunity to carry out your vision or idea, you may need to create one. This could be the case where you’re trying to do something new. Sometimes, people do not know certain possibilities because they haven’t been introduced or exposed to them. This just means that you may have a little more work to do to let people know what you can offer them. That’s the extra work that pioneers and visionaries sometimes have to do.
Don’t let this extra work discourage you. When you have found or created the opportunities to add value to people with what you have, then the world will come to find you, even if you sit at home in your comfy chair.
You can be ALL that you were created to be.
