Whether we like it or not, money is important. It’s unlikely to be the number one thing in a life of purpose, passion and productivity, but it would possibly feature somewhere in the top five.
Next to the issue of fear, it is probably the major reason why many people do not have the courage to pursue the kind of life they want. You may ask: if I do what I really want to do, where will I get the money from? That’s a valid question.
I’m here to tell you that doing the purposeful work that you want and getting paid for it is not the birth-right of only a few; it is for everyone. As long as you’re adding value, wealth will flow to you. it may not happen immediately, but it will happen. So, how do you get to this point where what you love to do is bringing in enough money to support your desired lifestyle?
The answer is very simple. Maintain or find a job or income-generating activity while you start doing something that is of significance to you.
It’s as simple as that, but not as easy as that.
It will require you to be creative and efficient with your use of time. It will also require you to step out of your hiding and start telling people what you do, so that you can start establishing your service or product in the hearts and minds of people. It could be challenging to ask people to pay you for something when you enjoy doing it and blessing the world with it, but if your contribution is meant to be a business, then you should be preparing eagerly for the time when it can pay you well enough for you to face it full-time. Stay with it.
It may not be easy to focus on a job or earning some income when you’d rather do what you’re passionate about, I know. But it is better to be sensible. You don’t want your passion to lead you into lack and irresponsibility.
It may happen that you do not want to turn your passion into a business or income-generator, and that’s okay, too. Whatever you decide to do, be patient and pay the price of time. As I like to say: It will happen!
