There is a general truth that applies to every person: Everyone has dreams and desires. Everyone has a “If I had my way, I would be this”, or “If I could, this is what I would like to do”. The ability to dream is innate, we were born with it. This is why, as children, we had such big dreams. Of course, this ability to dream gradually suffers a ‘reality check’ as we grow older, but it never really dies.
Now, even though every person has dreams and desires, only a very tiny percentage of people take action to bring their dreams to life. On one hand, we have people who are working to make their dreams a reality, and on the other hand, there are those who have decided to follow through with their desires ‘someday’.
Let’s turn the discussion right to you. In which of the groups do you fall? Have you begun to do something to bring your dreams and vision to light? Or are you still waiting for ‘someday’? Are you waiting for the ‘right’ time when you’ll have more time, more energy, more resources? You must understand that life will only get busier with time. As your family and circle of friends and acquaintances increase, so will your obligations increase.
Take the average twenty-something, thirty-something or forty-something year old person in a typical city. This person doesn’t have any ‘free’ time any more. They work full-time during the week, and the weekend is filled with family obligations, house chores, time with friends, ceremonies, and activities in places of worship.
Our life is made up of days, including ‘to-day’. And every day of your life is going to look just like this. It will start out relatively dark, and then it will get brighter and the sun will come out and get really bright and then wind down. It would get darker and darker and then morning comes, just to start all over again. One thing is clear: your life is lived in days, and if you do not ‘arrest’ time, your life will fizzle out in days.
If you’re waiting for a more convenient time, more available money, more energy, you’ll find yourself waiting for a very long time and that perfect time may never come. There’ll be more things to do and usually, more money will come with more expenses. Living life won’t get any easier.
What are you waiting for? This is not a dress rehearsal, this is the real deal. You have only one life, and this is it. One day, you will be gone. This is the ONLY chance you have to make a difference in your world. It’s time to begin the work of bringing your God-given vision to life. It’s time to take a step to make your life count. Do it!
