Happy Fathers’ Day to fathers all around the world, especially the fathers in my life. Fathers are amazing. They don’t get appreciated and acknowledged as mothers seem to be, but there’s no overstating their important work, role and influence in the society. They are simply irreplaceable.
As we celebrate Father’s Day this year, I’m full of awe and gratitude for my father and every father figure in my life who have molded and are still molding me. I’m grateful for the sacrifices, lessons and amazing love they have shown me.
I specifically honour my biological father, my precious Daddy, who has gone on to glory in heaven. He was such an exceptional father. His love for, dedication to and leadership of our family was incomparable and no one could ever replace him. This would be the first Father’s Day without him here on earth. While I may not see or experience him physically, I know he’s very much alive and blessing me and the entire family from heaven.
I honour my husband, an amazing father. I acknowledge and appreciate his love, sacrifices, his provision, protection and leadership as the father of our home. Being by his side has given me a better appreciation of the role fathers play in the home and in the society and their many sacrifices. I am deeply grateful for him.
I honour my spiritual fathers, teachers and mentors who have prayed for me, taught me and helped me grow over the years. They form an important part of the beautiful tapestry of my life.
Above all, I honour my Gracious Father, the Father of fathers, the Father who makes my heart beat faster because of His indescribable, untainted, reckless love for me. The One whose pleasure over me I feel even as I type out these words. His heart is ever pure towards me and He never tires of carrying me, correcting me, teaching me, providing for me, hanging out with me and pouring His love on me.
To everyone who needs the influence of an earthly father, remember that He is the Father of the fatherless, and that He puts the lonely in families (Psalm 68:5-6). He wants to be your heavenly Father, even as He places an earthly father over you.
To everyone who has been hurt, unloved, betrayed or disappointed by a father or father figure, my Father holds out His arms to you. He loves you, more than you could ever begin to imagine. He wants to soothe the hurt and pain you feel and give you peace. He wants to pour His love on you and welcome you into His family. We’re a cool bunch, I promise. Say yes to Him today.
And if you belong to the family already and believe you have strayed from Him, well, think again. He never let you go in the first place. He wants you to receive His love. Say yes to Him right now.
And if, like me, you’re already basking in His love and warmth, I want to remind you that there’s always more for us in Him. Say yes to more of Him.
You can say ‘Yes’ to the Father, He has nothing but love for you.
